One of the most significant developments in Florida is the adoption of permitless concealed carry, also known as “constitutional carry,” which took effect on July 1, 2023. Under this law, law-abiding adults aged 21 and over are no longer required to obtain a concealed weapons permit to carry a concealed firearm in public, as long as they meet the eligibility requirements.
This change has made concealed carry more accessible to many Floridians, and as a result, there is a strong focus on concealed carry firearms and accessories at Florida gun shows. Whether you’re looking for a compact handgun like the Glock 43X or Sig Sauer P365 for everyday carry, or larger models for enhanced control and capacity, you’ll find a wide variety of options. Florida’s Castle Doctrine law is another critical aspect of self-defense that shapes the state’s gun culture. Under the Castle Doctrine, Floridians have the right to use deadly force to defend themselves, their family, or their property against an intruder, without the duty to retreat, in their home or any other place where they have a legal right to be.
This law reinforces the idea of home defense, making shotguns and tactical rifles popular choices at gun shows for those looking to secure their homes. Vendors often showcase shotguns like the Remington 870 or Mossberg 500, which are known for their effectiveness in close-quarters situations, as well as AR-15-style rifles that offer versatility and stopping power for more dynamic defensive needs.
Beyond the focus on self-defense, Florida gun shows provide access to a wide range of firearms for other purposes, such as hunting, sport shooting, and collecting. Whether you’re a seasoned hunter looking for the latest hunting rifle, or a collector interested in antique firearms, these shows offer something for everyone.
The atmosphere is often social, with experts and enthusiasts sharing tips and stories, making it a great place to learn about the latest trends and products in the firearm world.
For those interested in securing their firearms, gun shows in Florida also feature a variety of gun safes, lockboxes, and other secure storage solutions to ensure firearms are stored responsibly. Vendors emphasize the importance of safety, offering demonstrations and advice on proper firearm storage, maintenance, and handling.
Overall, Florida gun shows offer a comprehensive selection of firearms and accessories, especially for those interested in self-defense and home protection. The permitless concealed carry law and the Castle Doctrine have only strengthened the focus on personal safety, making gun shows an invaluable resource for Floridians looking to stay informed and well-equipped. Whether you’re new to firearms or an experienced gun owner, these events provide a wealth of options, expertise, and community for anyone interested in exercising their rights responsibly.
